If you have been following me on the socials, you might have been wondering where I am and why.
I’ve travelled to Europe for the second time in my life and the first time was last year! Last year was an amazing experience and I had a very deliberate reason to come as I’d received a residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux. I had five weeks’ travelling before that in which I organised the itinerary so that my husband would be drawn into the world that his father had inhabited before he fled his home land. The trip was a feast for the eyes and ears. We were both in awe of everything around us as we travelled from Vienna to Novi Sad in Serbia.
This year, was a surprise. My husband works for a global company and he was asked to go to Germany for some training for 5 weeks. When he asked if I would like to come, my initial response was that I couldn’t take that much time off work again. He said, ‘What will you think about that in ten years’ time?’
Fair call.
And, this time, as we are in one place for most of the trip, I get to work from our apartment so not much has changed except the food, language, culture, access to so many other places … And, I’m working on my manuscript that I began last year.
Like last year, I am writing a regular post on my Substack about my time while in Europe. If you would like a weekly postcard from Europe, you can subscribe for free.
