About Meg

Helping you and your creativity thrive

I’m Meg Dunley, a creativity coach, writer and professional editor.

I help writers and creatives find the confidence, momentum and space to keep creating.

Maybe you’ve been wanting to write for years but can’t seem to find the time. Maybe you’ve started a project and lost momentum. Perhaps self-doubt, comparison or perfectionism keeps getting in the way. Or maybe you simply want to make more room for creativity in your life.

Whatever has brought you here, I believe creativity doesn’t need more pressure. It needs the right conditions to thrive.

A little about me

I’ve been working with words, ideas and creative projects for more than 25 years.

My professional background is in communications, content and web design, and I’ve worked as a professional editor for more than a decade. I’m also an internationally certified creativity and mindset coach, writer and facilitator. Today, I bring all of those experiences together to support writers and creatives.

Through one-to-one and group coaching, workshops, retreats, mentorships and editing, I help writers and creatives clarify what they want, work through what’s getting in the way and create practical ways to keep moving towards the work that matters to them.

My approach

I believe creativity needs the right conditions to grow. For me, that means curiosity, play, nature, encouragement and practical structure.

I don’t believe you need to become a more disciplined, productive or “perfect” version of yourself before you’re allowed to create. And I don’t think there’s one right way to have a creative life. Instead, I help you understand what matters to you, what might be getting in the way and what kind of support, structure and space will help you keep creating.

Think of it as tending rather than forcing. Sometimes you need to plant something new. Sometimes you need to prune what isn’t working. Sometimes you simply need someone beside you while you keep tending the thing you care about.

I’m a writer, too

Writing isn’t something I teach from the sidelines. It’s part of my own creative life.

My writing has appeared in anthologies, journals and my local newspaper, Flemington Kensington News, where I’ve volunteered since 2002.

I’ve also spent many years working with other people’s words as an editor, so I understand both sides of the creative process: the vulnerability of putting your own work into the world and the craft of helping someone else’s work become stronger.

Creative Momentum with Meg

I’m also the host of Creative Momentum with Meg, my podcast about creativity, writing, mindset and the realities of living a creative life.

I talk to writers and creatives about their work, their creative practices, the challenges they’ve faced and what helps them keep going.

Outside work

I’m an avid reader and a lifelong maker. I love gardening, knitting, crocheting, walking and spending time in nature. I’m happiest when I’m making something, learning something, reading something or getting outside. And perhaps that’s why joy has become such an important part of how I think about creativity.

Creativity doesn’t have to be another thing we’re trying to optimise. It can be a source of curiosity, connection, play and joy.

My professional background

I’m a Professional Member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) and Writers Victoria, and a member of the International Institute of Complementary Therapists (IICT).

I hold an Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing and have more than 25 years’ experience in communications, content and web design, including more than a decade as a professional editor.
