This was a really useful program that helped me explore where my writing might be going next. Meg provides a space where writers can spend a really focused 40 minutes on writing helped along by a weekly prompt. The prompts are thoughtful and were great springboards for ideas.

What is Writing Momentum?
1. Weekly writing prompts
Fresh and engaging prompts every week to spark creativity and jumpstart or support your writing. The thought-provoking prompts are most poetry based and provide you with questions to take into your current or new writing projects.
2. Accountability
Weekly check-ins about your week’s writing goals help keep you on track and motivated, ensuring you make steady progress toward your writing goals.
3. Community support
Connect with other writers in a private online forum for encouragement, feedback and shared experiences that will enrich your life and writing journey.
I enjoyed the regular meeting up with other writers and the writing prompts were excellent.
Meg is very generous with her knowledge and experience.

How does it work?
Writing Momentum runs throughout the year as our writing doesn’t wait for holidays or the ‘right’ time. The live sessions start at 7 am Melbourne time. They are conducted over Zoom with the replay emailed to members.
Writing Momentum session schedule
- 7-7.10 am – Poem and thought-provoking prompt
- 7.10-7.50 am – Silent writing time
- 7.50-8.00 am – Writing accountability
The Chapters are live over Zoom and recorded with the poem, thought-provoking questions and prompts emailed to all Momentum, Focus, Elevate and Creative Empowerment Coaching Program members on the same day.
During the Interludes, the poem, questions and prompts emailed to all Momentum, Focus, Elevate and Creative Empowerment Coaching Program members on the Wednesday morning with members encouraged to commit to their creativity for the week ahead.
Theme for Writing Momentum in 2026: The shape of time
The overarching theme for 2026 is ‘the shape of time’. Through it you have a year of writing memory, change and return. Meg spends time finding the most appropriate poems each week, often drawing on the likes of Mary Oliver, Judith Wright, Gwen Harwood and other poets who play close attention to human interaction with nature and back.
Chapter and Interlude themes
- Interlude 1: Threshold (7-14 January)
- Chapter 1: The art of attention (21 January to 25 March)
- Interlude 2: The turning (1-15 April)
- Chapter 2: The shape of stillness (22 April to 24 June)
- Interlude 3: The depths (1-8 July)
- Chapter 3: Portals and possibilities (15 July to 16 September)
- Interlude 4: The quickening (23-30 September)
- Chapter 4: The return (7 October to 9 December)
- Interlude 5: The breath between (16-30 December)

As a new writer I found these workshops very beneficial. The prompts and sharing often helped me in the exploration of my characters and my writings. The sharing of ideas from other writers was really useful. Hugely helpful in keeping me accountable with my writing.

FAQ
When are the live Writing Momentum sessions?
Wednesday mornings at 7.00–8.00am and, starting in January 2026, Friday 12.30-1.30 pm Melbourne time during Writing Momentum Chapters. All members are able to access the Zoom room during the Interludes as well for those who would like to keep up their writing momentum during those short breaks. Search the Events page for ‘Writing Momentum.’ The online sessions are run over Zoom and the link is emailed to you before the session.
This time of 7–8am Melbourne time doesn’t work for me, how can I participate?
The sessions are recorded and emailed to you within 24 hours.
Is there much time to write during the live session?
Yes, the majority of the one-hour session is muted for people to write. The session begins with a check in on the previous week’s writing accountability (did you do what you said you were going to do?), followed by a thought-provoking prompt and 40 minutes focussed writing time. At the end of the hour, we commit to next week’s writing accountability (what are you planning to do over the following week?).
Can I enrol after the start of a Writing Momentum Chapter or Interlude?
Yes, you can sign up as a member at any time
What is the online community aspect?
There is a private online group for everyone who works with Meg, a little like her virtual lounge room. It’s a place for all members to share writing news and to support each other.
Who runs the group?
Me! I’m Meg Dunley and I have a wealth of over 12 years facilitating writing groups and am an internationally certified mindset coach. I use my skills as a writer, mindset coach and facilitator to ensure the group is a safe space for everyone and that the prompts provide a thought-provoking stimulus for writing.
Does it matter what kind of writing I do or whether I’m emerging or established as a writer?
No, this group is for every kind of writer at any stage of their writing career. Writing can be hard at any stage of a writing career and this group’s purpose is to support every writer.
How do I access the sessions?
As a member you gain access to all material available automatically (look at the Membership levels)
What if I don’t want to continue?
You can cancel at any time.
Do I already have access to it?
If you are a paying Momentum, Focus, Elevate or Creative Empowerment Program member, you already have access to all live and recorded sessions.
What else do I get as a member?
As a Momentum member you get access to:
- monthly group coaching masterclasses
- two monthly newsletters
- two annual community gatherings
- priority access to Retreat with Meg bookings
- discount on the Creative Empowerment Program
- private online community.
The Focus and Elevate members also have monthly and fortnightly one-on-one coaching sessions and the Creative Empowerment Coaching Program members get 10 hours of one-on-one breakthrough results coaching.
Is Writing Momentum what you need?
Sometimes you just need a reboot, a change or a challenge to move from feeling ‘blocked’ or ‘stuck’ to hungering for any moment to write. That’s what Meg’s sessions do…challenge you to refocus your anxious energy into productive writing, even if it is just one word.
Jo Daly
I definitely recommend Writing Momentum to anyone looking to develop a weekly writing practice and seeking accountability with their writing goals. The experience helped me foster a daily writing habit. You can use the time during the online session to work on your own writing or follow a prompt given by Meg.
