A new podcast for writers and artists

Introducing Creative Momentum with Meg, a podcast for writers and artists

Discover why my new Creative Momentum with Meg podcast for artists and writers matters in today’s creative landscape

A few weeks ago, I did something that felt both inevitable and terrifying: I launched a podcast for creatives. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. I knew that the conversations I have with creatives and insights I’ve gained from my work with writers and artists could benefit others. But, I’d held off. Did I need to create another podcast in an already saturated world?

Now I’ve done it, I know it was worth it. Feedback I’ve received already has been exactly why I hit publish four weeks ago.

That was super inspiring — thanks Meg for the insightful questions and thanks Amy for sharing your process ♥️

Wonderful conversation with 2 beautiful humans. Thanks for sharing. My experiences there were life changing, learning deeply about myself in a place that gives you time and space to explore and create.

My writing residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux sparked the idea

The idea formed during my three-week writing residency in France this July. I was with twenty-eight creatives from around the world. We shared stories about our creative work over meals, while swimming in the pond and during late-night conversations. The energy was electric, the insights profound, and somewhere in my final week, a lightbulb moment struck. I needed to capture this magic and share it with others.

‘From the depths of my mind’ I loved this comment, and the influence from her dad.

Karen

I initially thought I would use this as posts on my Substack and/or website in a Q&A interview style. So, I interviewed three fellow writers in the Writers Salon and recorded the audio to transcribe. That night I lay in bed realising I’d missed something special. The transcripts were great and the audio was better, but the visual element was missing. I wanted others to seeing into their world and see them about their passion projects . And, of course, I wanted to capture the essence of them and their creativity. I wanted people to be able to see into this world, and the world to see into each creative’s life.

So, what started as casual recordings on my phone quickly evolved into something bigger.

That night I put out a call to all artists and writers at the residency. Would they be willing to share their stories on camera? Almost everyone said yes and Creative Momentum with Meg Dunley was born.

Love this Meg. Really interesting chat and I thought Caroline’s advice about not writing in isolation was fab.

Fast forward to now. Three episodes are out. I’ve stretched my brain close to breaking point. I’ve learnt new tech while fumbling around in the dark and googling answers. I love learning new things, but sometimes when I’m in the middle of learning, it hurts. I’m proud of what I’ve been able to achieve: great conversations and insights.

What makes this podcast for writers and artists unique?

Elevate, Empower and Educate

My Creative Momentum with Meg Dunley podcast exists to elevate, empower, and educate creatives. These are my core values in all I do with writers and artists. This isn’t just another interview show. Instead, it’s a window into the minds of creators from around the world. It’s sharing the real stories behind their work, the good and the bad. Over time, I’m envisioning that it have more. I’m planning to share mindset insights for creatives who want to grow rather than stagnate, or worse, give up.

Loved listening to this!

The episodes are short. I wanted people to listen in their breaks, rather than needing big blocks of time to listening.

A beautiful episode. Thank you. It was like listening to a creative’s manifesto. And the timing of Remi was hilarious and felt very appropriate for what was being discussed. Because our process will get interrupted, and that’s why a timetable matters.

Karen

The episodes offer insights into the creative process, struggles and victories that shape creative journeys and the momentum that keeps creatives moving forward even when the path isn’t clear. From emerging to established writers, visual artists and makers and writing residency founders, every guest brings unique perspectives on navigating the creative life.

In my interviews, we talk about creative process and routines, where they get their inspiration from and any wisdom from their own creative journey that they would like to share with other creatives. The conversations are warm and inviting and it has been such a delight to record these and to now share these with the wider world.
