These terms and conditions govern your purchase and use of products and services from Meg Dunley ABN 17922165672 (“we,” “us,” “our”).

By making a purchase or booking through this website, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms and conditions excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred on you by the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or any other applicable law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.

Where we are permitted to limit our liability, our liability is limited to, at our option:

In the case of goods: replacement of the goods, repair of the goods, or payment of the cost of having the goods replaced or repaired

In the case of services: supplying the services again or payment of the cost of having the services supplied again

Payment Terms

All prices are in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless otherwise stated

Payment can be made via credit cards through Apple Pay, Link, and Stripe

We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders already confirmed

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates can be purchased for any dollar amount or specific service

If the gift certificate is not for the full value of what the recipient is purchasing, the recipient must pay the balance upon enrolment or booking

Gift certificates are valid for three (3) years from the date of purchase

Gift certificates are non-transferable and not exchangeable for cash

The expiry date of a gift certificate cannot be extended

Gift certificates are non-refundable except where required by Australian Consumer Law

Gift certificates that are unused at expiry will have no residual value

Ebooks and Digital Resources

All ebooks and downloadable resources are delivered digitally via your account dashboard

Digital products are non-refundable once accessed or downloaded, except where required by Australian Consumer Law (e.g., if the product is faulty, not as described, or unfit for purpose)

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the digital content for your own personal use only

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or commercially exploit any digital content without our express written permission

We retain all intellectual property rights in our digital products

Coaching Services

Creative Empowerment Coaching Program

The Creative Empowerment Coaching Program is a comprehensive 10-session program delivered over 12 weeks. A detailed Service Agreement will be provided upon registration, which includes the following key terms:

Nature of Coaching

Coaching is a partnership between the Coach and Client in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires the client to maximize personal and professional potential. It is designed to facilitate the creation and/or development of personal, professional or business goals and to develop and carry out a strategy and/or plan for achieving those goals (International Coaching Federation definition).

Important distinctions:

  • Coaching is not therapy and does not substitute for therapy if needed
  • Coaching does not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease
  • Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders
  • If you are currently under the care of a mental health professional, you should inform them of your coaching relationship

Fees and Payment

  • Program fee: $995 (discounted from $1745)
  • Payment is required prior to commencement of the program
  • Additional services (such as document review, report writing, or other services outside of coaching hours) are available at a prorated rate of $150 per hour

Session Details

  • Sessions are up to 60 minutes (the first session may be up to 90 minutes)
  • Sessions are conducted via Zoom or telephone as mutually agreed
  • The Client initiates all scheduled calls
  • Email support is available between scheduled sessions as defined by the Coach

Cancellation Policy

  • You must notify the Coach 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule a session
  • If you miss a session without 24 hours notice, you may be billed at the single session rate
  • The Coach will make good faith efforts to reschedule missed sessions

Termination

  • Either party may terminate the coaching relationship at any time with four (4) weeks written notice
  • You are responsible for compensating the Coach for all services rendered through the effective date of termination
  • There is no refund of the program fee upon termination unless agreed upon at the time of termination

Your Responsibilities

  • You are solely responsible for creating and implementing your own physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, decisions, choices, actions, and results
  • You agree to communicate honestly, be open to feedback, and create the time and energy to participate fully
  • You are responsible for deciding how to handle issues and implement coaching principles in your life

Confidentiality

  • The coaching relationship and all information you share is bound by the ICF Code of Ethics
  • Please note: the Coach-Client relationship is not considered legally confidential (unlike medical and legal professions)
  • The Coach will not disclose your information without your written consent
  • Topics may be anonymously shared with other coaching professionals for training and professional development purposes
  • Your name and contact information may be shared with the International Coach Federation (ICF) for credential verification purposes only

Professional Standards

  • The Coach maintains the ethics and standards of behavior established by the International Coach Federation
  • Records will be retained for a minimum of seven (7) years in print or digital format

Code of Conduct

To enhance the coaching relationship, clients are expected to:

  • Respect the professional boundaries of the coaching relationship
  • Communicate honestly and openly
  • Be receptive to feedback and assistance
  • Create dedicated time and energy for the program

Single Coaching Sessions

Individual one-hour coaching sessions are available for clients who want focused support without committing to the full 12-week program.

Session Details

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Format: Zoom or telephone as mutually agreed
  • Rate: $150 per session
  • Payment is required at the time of booking

Booking and Scheduling

  • Sessions must be booked in advance through our booking system or by contacting meg@megdunley.com
  • Session times are subject to availability
  • You will receive confirmation and joining instructions after booking

Cancellation Policy

  • You may reschedule a session with at least 48 hours notice without penalty
  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice will forfeit the full session fee
  • No-shows (failure to attend without notice) will forfeit the full session fee
  • One complimentary reschedule is permitted; subsequent rescheduling may incur a fee

Session Focus

  • Sessions can address writing challenges, creative blocks, goal setting, accountability, or other writing-related concerns
  • As with all coaching services, these sessions are not therapy and do not substitute for mental health treatment
  • You are responsible for implementing any strategies or advice discussed

Confidentiality

  • All information shared during your session is confidential and bound by ICF Code of Ethics
  • Topics may be anonymously shared with other coaching professionals for training purposes only

No Refunds

  • Single session fees are non-refundable once the session has been completed
  • If you are dissatisfied with your session, please contact us at meg@megdunley.com to discuss your concerns
Writing Mentorships

Writing Mentorships provide personalised, one-on-one guidance to help you move forward with clarity and confidence in your writing. Whether you’re just starting out, deepening a work-in-progress, or preparing a manuscript for submission, these programs offer structured support through regular submissions, close reading, and tailored Zoom sessions.

Application and Acceptance

  • All mentorships are offered by application only
  • Meg accepts four (4) mentees per year
  • Acceptance is dependent on availability and suitability of your project
  • Submitting an application does not confirm your mentorship
  • You will be notified of the outcome of your application via email

Mentorship Tiers

Incubate: 3-Month Writing Mentorship

  • Ideal for writers at the beginning of a project or wanting focused support to get moving
  • Submit up to 3,000 words per month
  • 3 × one-hour Zoom sessions
  • Tailored feedback and strategies to gain clarity and momentum
  • Price: $1,400

Refine: 6-Month Writing Mentorship

  • Best suited for writers ready to refine their work, deepen their craft, and make steady progress on a longer project
  • Submit up to 3,000 words per month
  • 5 × one-hour Zoom sessions
  • In-depth discussion, constructive feedback, and personalized strategies
  • Price: $2,625

Illuminate: 6-Month Intensive Writing Mentorship

  • Designed for writers who want detailed, high-level guidance to polish their work and move toward completion or submission
  • Submit up to 6,000 words per month
  • 6 × 90-minute Zoom sessions
  • In-depth discussion, constructive feedback, and personalized strategies
  • Price: $4,725

Payment and Commitment

  • Full payment is required prior to commencement of the mentorship
  • Payment plans may be available upon request and approval
  • Mentorships are a significant commitment and are priced to reflect the personalized, intensive nature of the work

Session Structure

  • Zoom sessions are scheduled at mutually agreed times
  • Sessions focus on discussing your submitted work in detail, exploring strategies for development, and setting practical next steps
  • Meg adapts each session to your project’s unique needs, from building momentum in early drafts to polishing work for completion

Submission Guidelines

  • Monthly word submissions must be within the limits specified for your mentorship tier
  • Submissions should be sent by the agreed deadline each month
  • Work submitted should be your original writing or revisions based on previous feedback
  • Late submissions may affect the scheduling of your Zoom sessions

Cancellation and Rescheduling

  • Zoom sessions may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice
  • If you miss a scheduled session without adequate notice, the session may be forfeited
  • Sessions cannot be rolled over beyond the mentorship period without prior agreement

Termination and Refunds

  • Either party may terminate the mentorship with two (2) weeks written notice
  • In the event of termination by you:
    • If terminated within the first month, a pro-rata refund will be provided for unused months, minus the value of any sessions already held
    • If terminated after the first month, refunds will be at our discretion based on services already provided
  • In the event of termination by us (e.g., due to breach of terms or inappropriate conduct), no refund will be provided
  • No refunds are available once the mentorship period is complete

Intellectual Property and Confidentiality

  • You retain all rights to your creative work
  • All work shared during the mentorship is confidential
  • Meg will not share your work with third parties without your express written permission
  • Anonymized examples or general themes from mentorship work may be used for teaching purposes
  • You may not record Zoom sessions without prior written permission

Professional Boundaries

  • The mentorship is a professional relationship focused on your writing development
  • Meg provides editorial guidance and writing support, not therapy or personal counseling
  • All communication should be conducted professionally and respectfully

Your Responsibilities

As a mentee, you are expected to:

  • Submit work by agreed deadlines
  • Come to sessions prepared to discuss your work
  • Be open to feedback and constructive criticism
  • Implement strategies discussed between sessions
  • Respect the professional nature of the relationship
  • Maintain regular communication about your progress

Acknowledgement

We appreciate (but do not require) acknowledgement of the mentorship in any works published as a result of your participation in the program.

Memberships

Membership Access

  • Membership grants you access to group coaching, 1:1 coaching, newsletters, face-to-face gatherings and discounts (depending on which membership). See further details here
  • Access is provided via our member portal
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials

Membership Fees

  • Memberships are billed monthly in advance (apart from Spark which is billed annually)
  • The first payment is due at the time of sign-up
  • Subsequent payments will be automatically charged to your nominated payment method on the renewal date

Cancellation and Refunds

  • You may cancel your membership at any time by providing notice via email to meg@megdunley.com
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • No refunds are provided for partial membership periods except where required by Australian Consumer Law
  • Upon cancellation, you will retain access until the end of your paid period, after which access will be revoked

Membership Content

  • All membership content is for your personal use only
  • You may not share, reproduce, or distribute membership content to non-members
  • We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove membership content at our discretion

Suspension and Termination

If we terminate your membership for cause, no refund will be provided.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your membership if you breach these terms

Masterclasses

Registration and Payment

  • Registration for masterclasses is confirmed upon receipt of full payment
  • Early bird pricing is available until the date specified on the masterclass page
  • Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis

Access and Delivery

  • Masterclasses may be delivered live (online or in-person) or as recorded content, as specified in the masterclass description
  • For live masterclasses: you will receive joining instructions at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time
  • For recorded masterclasses: access will be provided via your account dashboard
  • Recorded content access is provided for [specify duration: e.g., 12 months from date of purchase]

Cancellation and Refunds

  • Cancellations made more than 14 days before a live masterclass start date will receive a full refund minus processing fees
  • Cancellations made 7-14 days before the start date will receive a 50% refund
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the start date are non-refundable
  • Recorded masterclasses are non-refundable once access has been granted, except where required by Australian Consumer Law

Rescheduling by Us

  • If we need to reschedule a live masterclass, you will be offered:
    • A place in the rescheduled session, or
    • A full refund

Materials and Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights remain with us

Masterclass materials provided (workbooks, templates, etc.) are for your personal use only

Recording or reproduction of live masterclass content is prohibited without written permission

Retreat with Meg writing retreats

By booking a place at a Retreat with Meg, you agree to the following terms and conditions. A detailed Registration Form and Agreement will be provided upon booking.

Payment and Booking

  • A non-refundable deposit secures your place
  • Full payment is required no later than one (1) month prior to the retreat start date
  • If you pay by deposit, the balance must be paid one month before the retreat begins
  • If you do not pay the balance by the due date, your place will be given to the next person on the waitlist
  • Early bird discounts apply only when full payment is made by the listed early bird deadline
  • Payment plans may be available upon request and approval

Cancellation Policy

By You:

  • Deposits are non-refundable, but may be transferred to another writer for the same retreat date (subject to our prior written approval)
  • If you cancel more than 1 month before the retreat start date, any payment made beyond the deposit will be refunded
  • If you cancel within 1 month of the retreat start date, no refunds can be given
  • If you are unable to attend, you may nominate another writer to take your place, pending our approval and appropriate arrangements

By Us:

  • We reserve the right to cancel a retreat if minimum numbers are not reached
  • If we cancel a retreat, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid, or may transfer to another retreat date
  • We are not liable for any additional costs you may have incurred (such as flights, transport, or other bookings)

COVID-19 and Health Policy

  • You must not attend the retreat if you have COVID-19
  • If you feel unwell, you must have a negative Rapid Antigen Test on the morning of arrival and provide proof (photo of cartridge or bring the cartridge)
  • If you are unable to attend due to COVID-19 illness, close contact requirements, or travel restrictions, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your options
  • We recommend taking out travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances

Unforeseen Events

  • If a retreat is postponed or cancelled due to government restrictions, public health orders, natural disasters, or other unforeseen events beyond our reasonable control, you will be offered the choice of:
    • A full refund of all monies paid, or
    • Transferring your payment to a future retreat date

Accommodation and Facilities

  • All accommodations are as described on the retreat website
  • Accommodation options include various cottages at Karma Kinglake
  • Room preferences can be indicated at registration and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Cottages can be shared with a friend/writing partner by arrangement
  • Dietary requirements must be advised at the time of booking
  • We can cater for most significant food allergies and dietary requirements (gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian)
  • Additional dietary requests made less than 2 weeks before the retreat may not be able to be accommodated
  • Accessibility needs must be communicated at the time of registration

Retreat Schedule and Arrival

  • Arrival: from 10:00 AM on the first day
  • Departure: by 12:00 PM on the final day
  • You will receive detailed information about the retreat schedule prior to arrival
  • A complementary one-hour one-on-one coaching session with Meg is available upon request (to address writing or personal life challenges)

Optional Extras

Available for additional fees:

  • Massage: $150 for a one-hour session with a female massage therapist (usually on Saturday, payable in cash on the day)
  • Feedback on your writing: $125 for a close read of 3,000 words with one hour of feedback during the retreat

Conduct and Participation

This is a supportive and inclusive space for writers. All participants are expected to:

Mutual Respect:

  • Respect the group, the facilitator, the venue, and one another
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal information shared by other participants
  • Participate in a constructive and positive manner

Retreat Etiquette:

  • Limit phone calls and keep mobile phones on silent during the retreat
  • Do not invite guests to the retreat
  • This is a dedicated retreat space for registered writers only

Unacceptable Behavior:

  • Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated
  • We reserve the right to remove any participant who disrupts the experience of others, breaches these terms, or behaves inappropriately, without refund

Health and Safety

  • You must disclose any medical conditions, disabilities, or accessibility requirements at the time of registration
  • If you have life-threatening allergies, you must supply your Green or Red plan for Meg and bring any necessary first aid medication
  • You are responsible for bringing any necessary medications
  • If you have mobility issues, please discuss this before booking to ensure the venue is suitable
  • You must follow all venue safety rules and emergency procedures
  • In case of medical emergency, we will contact emergency services and your nominated emergency contact

Transport

  • The retreat is located in Kinglake, approximately 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne
  • You are responsible for your own transport to and from the retreat
  • Public transport options: Train from Southern Cross to Mernda, bus from Mernda to Whittlesea, and Whittlesea to Kinglake
  • Once participants are confirmed, you will be connected with other attendees to arrange carpooling if needed
  • You are responsible for all your travel expenses

Property and Belongings

Your Responsibility:

  • You are responsible for the loss or damage to items that may occur during your stay
  • Please report any breakages or damaged items to the venue
  • You are responsible for ensuring the safekeeping of your own possessions
  • You are responsible for the general security of the venue

Our Limitations:

  • We are not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage to your personal belongings
  • We accept no liability for loss or damage to personal items including laptops, manuscripts, or other writing materials

Photography and Media

  • Photos and videos may be taken during the retreat for promotional purposes
  • You will be asked for Instagram consent and can choose whether to be tagged in social media posts
  • If you do not wish to be photographed or have images used, please advise us in writing

Acknowledgement

We would appreciate if you could acknowledge the retreat’s support in any works published as a result of your time at Retreat with Meg (optional but appreciated).

Pre- and Post-Retreat Consultations

  • You will be asked to book a pre- and post-retreat consultation (approximately two weeks before and after the retreat)
  • These sessions helps us understand what you’re hoping to achieve and answer any questions
  • Booking link will be provided after registration

Liability

  • By attending, you acknowledge that participation is at your own risk
  • Meg Dunley and associated venues are not liable for any personal injury, illness, death, damage, loss, or theft of personal property, except to the extent required by law
  • We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel and personal insurance
  • We are not responsible for any travel delays, cancellations, or additional costs incurred

Travel and Insurance

  • You are responsible for arranging your own travel to and from the retreat venue
  • We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers cancellation, medical emergencies, and personal liability
  • We are not responsible for any costs associated with travel disruptions
Privacy and Data Collection

We are committed to protecting your privacy and have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Information we collect

Personal Information we collect includes:

  • Contact details (name, email, phone number, address)
  • Emergency contact information (for retreat participants)
  • Dietary requirements and accessibility needs
  • Instagram handles (for retreat social media consent)
  • Professional and writing development information
  • Payment information

Sensitive Information we may collect includes:

  • Health information relevant to your participation in our programs (medical conditions, allergies, accessibility needs)
  • Information shared during coaching sessions (for ICF credential verification)

How we use your information

  • To provide you with the products and services you’ve purchased
  • To communicate with you about your bookings and purchases
  • To ensure your safety and wellbeing during retreats and programs
  • To meet legal and regulatory requirements
  • For ICF credential verification (coaching clients only)

How we store your information

  • Your Personal Information is stored securely to protect it from misuse, loss, unauthorized access, modification or disclosure
  • Client files are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required by professional standards
  • When your information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify it

Your rights

  • You have the right to access your personal information
  • You can request updates or corrections to your personal information
  • You can request deletion of your information subject to our record retention requirements
  • You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting us in writing
  • We may require identification before releasing your personal information

Third party disclosure

  • We will only disclose your personal information to third parties with your consent or where required or authorized by law
  • For coaching clients: your name and contact information may be shared with the International Coach Federation (ICF) for credential verification purposes only

Intellectual Property

All content on this website and in our products and services, including text, graphics, logos, images, audio, video, and software, is our property or the property of our licensors and is protected by Australian and international copyright laws.

Your limited license:

  • You may use materials provided through our programs for your personal development only
  • You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, transmit, or use any content for commercial purposes without our express written permission
  • Workshop and masterclass materials are for your personal reference and cannot be shared with others

Client work:

  • You retain all rights to your creative work (manuscripts, writing, etc.)
  • We may use anonymised examples for teaching purposes only with your permission
Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of our products or services
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of our services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant product or service
  • We make no guarantees, representations, or warranties of any kind regarding results or outcomes from our coaching or retreat services

Specific exclusions:

  • The Coach is not liable for any actions, inactions, decisions, choices, or results arising from the coaching relationship
  • Meg Dunley and associated retreat venues are not liable for personal injury, illness, damage, loss, or theft except as required by law

This limitation does not apply to any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Australian Consumer Law.

Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint or dispute:

Legal action: If legal action is necessary, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover attorney’s fees and court costs from the other party

General Terms

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. You agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.

Entire Agreement

These terms, together with any specific Service Agreement you sign, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of our services and supersede any prior agreements.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, but could become valid or enforceable by limiting it, then it shall be deemed to be written, construed, and enforced as so limited. The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Waiver

The failure of either party to enforce any provision of these terms shall not be construed as a waiver or limitation of that party’s right to subsequently enforce and compel strict compliance with every provision.

Amendments

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. If rates change before a Service Agreement has been signed and dated, the prevailing rates will apply. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these terms or your rights under them without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.

Force Majeure

We are not liable for any failure to perform our obligations under these terms due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, pandemics, government restrictions, natural disasters, or failure of utilities or telecommunications.

Record Retention

Records relating to our services will be maintained for a minimum of seven (7) years in print or digital format.
